A woman was injured, but not seriously, and her home in Anarita, Paphos partly destroyed in a gas explosion on Friday morning.
At 6.30am, a gas cylinder in the kitchen exploded and destroyed a big part of the house.
Demetra Georgiou, 74, who was injured in the blast, was taken to hospital by neighbours before the arrival of the fire services.
She was in her bedroom at the time which was only slightly damaged and is still in hospital, but reportedly doing well. Initial investigations suggest that the cause of the fire was a gas leak.
In Limassol, a house on Michail Kassialou Street was damaged by a bomb in the early hours.
According to police, an improvised explosive device which was placed on the terrace of the house damaged the floor of the terrace, an aluminium door and windows of the house next door.
The tenants were absent at the time of the explosion.
The 36-year-old owner of the house reported to police that he doesn’t suspect anybody of the crime. Several items were seized by police at the scene to facilitate further investigations.
