Bar Review: Plus Sea, Limassol

Being on the sea is an unbeatable attraction for any bar this season. Living in Limassol, there’s an abundance of choice in that area. Plus Sea is one of those great options if you want to kick back and relax with a drink listening to the sound of the waves.

Plus Sea has been around for quite some time and you can enjoy your time there any time of day – a drink with a quick dip or an afternoon sip of TLC with the sea breeze washing over you.

Sitting cozy on the outskirts of the city, although the place gets busy itself, it is relatively cut off from the hustle and bustle of Limassol. Plus Sea is everything that you would want from a seaside bar – a ‘straw’ roof frames the sea side of the bar and the décor, heavily splashed with accents of red, never lets you forget the island experience.

As far as drinks are concerned there is something for everyone and it does make a mean cocktail – ideal when you are sitting by or on the beach. The cocktails range from the classics to those with a splash of individuality. Although many people’s go to summer drink is the mojito, I went for something different to cool me down – the matador, which offers a perfect combination of sweet and sour that is ideal in the summer heat. Served beautifully in a martini glass with sprinkles of raspberry for taste and decoration, the combination of Havana, aperol and lemon juice is enough to refresh even the toughest of critics. The splash of vanilla brings everything together and makes it an unbeatable combo.

For the coffee and alcohol lover there is a great drink for you as well, the Irish Frappe, which mixes both the concept of alcohol infused drinks and one of Cyprus’ go to drinks, the frappe. The Irish Frappe mixes Baileys, chocolate Baileys, Kahlua and espresso and is topped with fresh cream. It is the best of both worlds, and sipping this while being showered with sunlight is incredible. It comes in a long glass, so there’s plenty of it, but it is remarkably sweet – it is almost like drinking a milkshake so at times you forget how much of an alcohol punch is packed into this drink.

There are plenty more of cocktails to choose from, as well as the standard spirits or drinks. As far as wine is concerned, the wine list is not the most varied but it will certainly not disappoint.

All in all, Plus Sea combines drinks and atmosphere better than must and is the ultimate summer getaway spot.
