Police said on Wednesday they were stepping up patrols in Limassol after yet another burglary at a luxury goods shop in the early hours of the morning.

It was the third time in a month expensive items were stolen from shops on Limassol’s beachfront.

While on Friday and on October 25 fur coats were targeted, this time the perpetrators got away with a number of expensive garments and bags.

According to police, the alarm of the shop sounded shortly after 5am. The burglary was discovered by a security officer.

The perpetrators reportedly broke the shop front door and within minutes took the clothes and bags and left.

Fur coats worth €300,000 were stolen from a shop on Limassol’s coastal road early on Friday morning.

The two perpetrators whose actions were recorded by a security camera took just three minutes to complete the burglary. As in the latest burglary, they broke the front door of the building. They then grabbed the expensive clothes and left in a dark jeep.

On October 25, perpetrators broke the glass entrance of another shop on the same road and removed 24 items valued at €200,000 in total.

In statements to media on Wednesday, Limassol’s deputy police spokesman, Marinos Vassiliou, said CCTV footage showed the perpetrators of the early-morning burglary had their faces covered with hoodies and had entered the shop by breaking the door frame.
Within minutes they had picked up clothing and footwear, as well as high-value bags and left the scene before the arrival of the security company employee and the police.  The specific value of the stolen items has not yet been determined.
He said police do not exclude that the three robberies are linked to the same perpetrators. The MO was the same in all three cases “but we cannot say with certainty that they are the same people,” he added.

“Police have now drafted special patrolling plans to prevent such burglaries and thefts, as well as to investigate the more recent cases we had in Limassol.”
