A 31-year-old man was injured early on Tuesday while trying to catch a purse snatcher on a moped who was getting away after robbing a woman on Limassol’s coastal road.
The incident happened just after midnight while the 22-year-old woman was walking on Limassol’s coastal road. At some point, she was approached by a man on a moped who snatched her purse and tried to get away.
The woman sought help from the 31-year-old who was driving by and together they tried to catch the thief in his car.
The 31-year-old managed to catch up with the thief but as he got out of the car he was hit by the moped.
The thief abandoned the scene while the 31-year-old was taken to hospital where he was treated for bruises to the head, friction burns, and abrasions.
According to the woman, the purse, worth €100, contained €200 in cash and a €600 mobile phone.
