A woman from Nicosia has been arrested in a case where another from Limassol was threatened by masked assailants, one of whom took a knife to her neck and fled the scene, police said on Friday.
“Police proceeded (on Thursday) with the arrest of a 29-year-old Nicosia resident in connection with an ongoing investigation into a case of common assault, the carrying of a knife and illegal entry into a residence with intent to commit a misdemeanour,” police said.
“Testimony was secured against the 29-year-old, in connection with the attack against a 31-year-old, at her home in a Limassol district village, by two hooded persons, on the night of November 16. The 29-year-old was arrested and detained to facilitate investigations.”
The alleged victim, who was threatened with a knife by two masked persons who entered her home, cut the face of one of them before they fled the scene.
“According to her report, one of the two persons put a knife to her throat and threatened her. She reacted and managed to wound (with a knife) the face of the assailant, who then fled with the second person in an unknown direction,” police said.
Limassol CID had said the perpetrators were described as thin, around 1.70 metres in height and wearing black clothing.
