A 36-year-old woman has been remanded in custody for seven days after being caught inside a man’s home in the early hours of Friday in Limassol.
The suspect, who is a foreign national, was found by the 52-year-old homeowner just after 5am while he was asleep in his residence in the Ayios Spyridonas area.
He reported hearing noises coming from the ground floor and, upon investigation, discovered an unknown woman in the property.
Police officers rushed to the scene and following directions from the resident, arrested the woman on site. Initial checks showed that she had entered the house through an aluminium side window, which was closed but not locked.
At this stage, the homeowner has not reported anything stolen.
The woman was taken to Limassol CID for questioning. During a body search, officers found €495 in cash and various pieces of jewellery and valuables in her possession.
She was unable to provide a clear explanation for the items and was arrested for unlawful possession of property.
Further investigations linked her to two recent burglary cases in the same area, dated March 27 and April 19. Surveillance footage from those incidents allegedly shows the same suspect.
She is now being held in connection with three separate burglary and theft cases, pending further investigation.
